In “Hollywood Lovesong” from her new record Queen Coyote, Dirty Dollhouse‘s Chelsea Mitchell yearns for the simpler, more direct side of romance — those small but crucial things like meeting after work, going to the movies, holding hands. Things that often get lost in our day-to-day stress.

The sweeping, retro-country song is given a visual dimension in this new music video shot by Bob Sweeney, a local videographer notable for his use of 8 mm film stock — so for a song that’s so much about the magic of the movies, it’s perfect.

Shot at Newtown Books and Records and the County Theater, the video guest stars August John Lutz II from Levee Drivers as a person who shows up to check out LPs and DVDs just as Mitchell is closing up shop. Later, we see her alone in an empty theater, wondering if this mysterious stranger will show.
