KooF channels Sigur Ros on “Prolog for a Dream”
Versatile Philly trumpet player and collaborator KooF has played in large ensembles like West Philadelphia Orchestra and Wookiedelphia, joined Moor Mother in an Art Museum performance two years ago, and made his name as a photographer on the side. (He shoots concerts for The Key regularly, and lately has been one of a few Philly photogs conducting socially-distanced porch portrait sessions.)
Now, KooF has released his first solo track, the beautiful meditation “Prolog For A Dream.” Based around a rising, repeated melody that builds and swells with other instruments and atmospheric elements entering the picture, it’s reminiscent of Sigur Ros and Godspeed in a more stripped-down sense.
On his Bandcamp page, Koof calls it “A song about a dream I haven’t had yet,” and says “learn the trumpet, i’ll teach you the words.” Take a listen below.
