The Hold Steady release new live benefit album to benefit some of its favorite venues
The Hold Steady have released a new benefit album, recorded live at the Rickshaw Stop in San Francisco, California on August 4, 2018. Available on Bandcamp, the proceeds from the name-your-price album will go to support the staff of the Rickshaw Shop.
The Hold Steady have previously released several live benefit abums on Bandcamp, recorded at the Brooklyn Bowl in Brooklyn, the Electric Ballroom in London, The Crocodile in Seattle, and White Eagle Hall in Jersey City.
Craig Finn, lead singer and songwriter for THS wrote this about the Rickshaw Shop show.
In August 2018, THS returned to the West Coast for the first time in a few years. It was a fantastic weekend, and ended up on Saturday night, August 4, 2018 with this very hot set in the very awesome Rickshaw Stop. The legend Kevin Seconds opened the show, which was a thrill for all of us. In fact, in the set after “Sequestered” I tell the story about how I wrote him a letter when I was younger. We also did “The Stove & The Toaster” for the first time live, I believe, and “A Snake in the Shower” also made the set. The whole vibe was loose and celebratory, as we were happy to see a lot of our West Coast friends in the house.
Finn isn’t kidding when he uses the words “loose and celebratory” to describe this show. It’s a classic high energy Hold Steady 25 song show that includes “Sequestered In Memphis,” “Stay Positive,” “Party Pit,” and a mind blowing closing “Killer Parties.” Listen below.
