Dominic Angelella shatters the myth of the abusive genius on “Vampire”
Seasoned Philly songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Dominic Angelella released the latest track from his new album Poison River. He shared the minute-and-a-half song on his Twitter last week, writing “Got a new song out today called ‘Vampire.’ It’s a quick ripper, I hope you enjoy.” He also posted the song’s lyrics and his Spotify page link for the release.
The single emphasizes pulsating drums from the first second of the track and ends with a long acrobatic guitar solo. Angelella’s Instagram also notes that the song is “about the myth of the abusive artist as a misunderstood genius.”
In addition to his independent discography, Angelella is the current bassist for Lucy Dacus’ band and has produced records from his projects Drgn King and Lithuania, on which he collaborated with Dr. Dog’s Eric Slick. The songwriter’s third album releases on May 29th via Lame-O Records, and can be pre-ordered here. Listen to “Vampire” below.
