It’s been a little over two months since singer-songwriter legend John Prine passed away. The world has seen so much pain in that short time, and Prine’s death only added to the tragic state of 2020. To honor Prine’s life and raise money for NAMIAlive and Make the Road New York, a tribute show was held last week called “Picture Show: A Tribute Celebrating John Prine.”

In addition to showing several of Prine’s interviews and live performances, the 2-hour livestream featured perfomances from artists including Jason Isbell, Kurt Vile, Sturgill Simpson, Courtney Marie Andrews, Kacey Musgraves, and many more. Musgraves began her song, “Burn One (with John Prine),” by briefly talking about Prine’s influence on her own career. “That man singlehandedly influenced me and my songwriting more than anybody on this planet… I had these big dreams of getting to ‘Burn One (with John Prine),'” she wistfully smiles before diving into the track.

After the show, John Prine’s final song was released to the public. Aptly titled “I Remember Anything,” it’s a joyous ode to a long, full life. Its poignant beauty is devastating. Rest easy, John Prine.

I remember everything
Things I can’t forget
The way you turned and smiled on me
On the night that we first met
And I remember every night
Your ocean eyes of blue
How I miss you in the morning light
Like roses miss the dew
