Joe Kenney and Aaron Parnell Brown collaborate on Kenney’s new single, “Gone”
The third single, “Gone,” from Philly pianist Joe Kenney’s upcoming collaboration album is out today. Like the rest of the songs on Kenney’s upcoming album, “Gone” features guest vocals from another Philly-based musician.
This bluesy track features Aaron Parnell Brown, who has been an active singer/songwriter for almost a decade (and joined the XPN team earlier this year, where he works in our membership department). Brown’s played 2013’s XPNFest with his band Aaron and the Spell, released a solo album in 2015, and currently plays with The Right Fiction.
“Gone” is a soulful, bluesy tune about walking away from a toxic relationship. Guitar and brass flourishes provide big band textures, while sax and piano riffs provide a strong harmonic backdrop. Apart from Brown’s majestic vocals, the track also features Ethan Stauffer on guitar, Warren Mobley on bass, Lenny Mobley on drums, Mike Talento on sax, Nolan Wible on trumpet, Mike Kaplan on trombone, and Kenney on piano and synths.
