New Brunswick punk band Screaming Females announced yesterday that, with Don Giovanni Records, they will be doing a limited release of vinyl copies of 2013’s Chalk Tape.

Prior to this limited release, there exist only 100 copies of Chalk Tape, all in cassette form. The cassettes were sold at one show in 2013, where they sold out almost at once. Although the EP is available for streaming on Spotify and digital purchase on iTunes, no other physical copies exist.

The EP was written and recorded after an extended touring hiatus following singer-guitarist Marissa Paternoster’s illness. Chalk Tape was an exercise in writing and collaboration, keeping up the group’s creativity after a pause in activity. The band says, “Chalk Tape has existed outside the official canon of Screaming Females’ catalog since its release, though it is a unique document of a band concurrently writing, recording, and performing in real-time and capturing of their songs as they were being created.”

Pre-orders for Chalk Tape are available now through July 26. The exact number of vinyl copies produced will be as many as are pre-ordered. The album is expected to ship in late October or early November. Digital copies are also available for purchase.
