Grocer, Highnoon, and Grace Vonderkuhn will play a Live And Local concert on WXPN’s Instagram
XPN’s weekly Thursday evening Live and Local Instagram concert series continues on July 16th with performances three regional artists: indie rockers Grocer, dream-pop singer-songwriter Highnoon, and guitar badass Grace Vonderkuhn.
Danielle Lovier and Nicholas Rahn of Grocer first worked together in the Brooklyn band all boy / all girl, and adopted the new name and some new bandmates after a move to Philly last year. Their jagged, dynamic rock sound channels Pixies, Cherry Glazerr, and anyone in between.
Highnoon is the project of Philly singer-songwriter and guitarist Kennedy Freeman; their debut album Semi-Sweet came out last summer, and it’s a wonderful mix of delightfully breezy Stereolab-esque bops and moving, intimate ballads in the spirit of Lianne La Havas and Carole King.
Wilmington’s Grace Vonderkuhn has illuminated stages around the Delaware Valley with exciting psych-tinged guitar rock for six years now; her most recent record, Reveries, was released in 2018, and took her across the country and back, with a sick Audiotree set recorded on the way.
The show takes place Thursday, July 16th, at 6 p.m. ET on the station’s Instagram Live, at @wxpnfm. Listen to music from each of the performers below.
