Darlingside kicks off Distantly Social Sessions with “A Light On In The Dark”
Darlingside is getting ready to release their new album Fish Pond Fish, which they finished writing and recording while social distancing during the pandemic. Of course, the indie-folk quartet will be unable to play the new music for in-person audiences this year — instead, they’re adapting to the challenges and launching a series of Distantly Social Sessions on their YouTube channel.
In the first video, for the single “A Light On In The Dark,” the indie-folk quartet reunites onscreen from their respective homes, and proves that their signature harmonies and instrumentals are unaffected by their distance. Since forming in 2010, Darlingside has followed a collaborative process of group songwriting that by necessity looked a bit different for this album. According to a press release, “Forced to evolve, they leaned more heavily on individual experimentation and decision-making, both in recording and editing. Fish Pond Fish reflects that change, sonically dense yet individually marked, impossible to categorize by one texture.”
Fish Pond Fish comes out on October 9. Pre-order the album here.
