The Goodbye Party’s “December Boys” pairs raw emotions with modest visuals
As The Goodbye Party, Michael Cantor has recently released the second single, “December Boys,” off his upcoming project, Beautiful Motors (out October 9th via Double Double Whammy). Based on his partner’s Philly-centered graphic novel, “December Boys” captures the raw feelings of a burgeoning relationship. Cantor’s lo-fi vocals feel incredibly intimate; a dead ringer for Phil Elverum’s work in the Microphones.
The release of “December Boys” also featured an accompanying music video. Directed by Ali Donohue, the video sets clips of Cantor performing the song alongside shots of him, his partner, and their dog going about their day. “December Boys”‘ tender simplicity is a breathtaking slice of the mundane beauty in everyday life, a subtle portrait of a healthy, long-lasting relationship.
