Atlanta DIY duo Coco & Clair Clair release incredibly fun video for self-confidence anthem “Wishy Washy”
Atlanta DIY duo Coco & Clair Clair‘s songs are fun and exude confidence, and the “Wishy Washy” video does not fall short.
The song comes from their recent EP Treat Like Gold and shows the pair dancing in front of a laundromat like they are claiming it as their own.
The duo told Nylon, “In the beginning, ‘Wishy Washy’ was about being flimsy with your feelings or not knowing what you wanted out of a relationship, but as we continued to work on it, it kind of turned into this anthem about being really confident in yourself and not needing anybody else to complete you.”
“Wishy Washy” is one of many carefree songs in the duo’s catalog that’s reminiscent of glitter and lip gloss, and poised with energy. The track features soft rapped and whispered vocals over a re-worked looped ringtone sound and water droplet sound effects that channel the lyrics. Their spacy beats are genreless with hints of pop and rap, often adding unique sound samples that set the tone.
Last year, the pair teamed up with producer Deaton Chris Anthony and Clairo on the standout song “RACECAR.” The track features Clairo rapping, something quite different than her usual sound, but the charisma Coco & Clair Clair bring to their music appeared to be contagious.
Coco & Clair Clair are a breath of fresh air, both in the way their songs make you feel, and the unique twist they bring to their music. Each song feels like its own page out of a journal, and in their DIY style, no two are the same.
