Gladie finds comfort in hard times on their latest EP thank you card.
Gladie has had a prolific several months. After releasing their debut album Safe Sins just before the pandemic shut things down, the duo of Augusta Koch and Matt Schimelfenig were forced to cut their headlining tour short and return home to quarantine.
They used the extra time to record an EP, orange peels, from home in Philly, and released it in July. Then the pair retreated to their secluded Poconos recording studio to find more creative inspiration. They’re back now with yet another EP, thank you card.
The EP includes two new tracks alongside a cover of the Weakerthans’ “Plea From A Cat Named Virtute,” off their 2003 album Reconstruction Site. The energetic title track weighs power dynamics, while the laid back “sorry when I’m not,” which features Hemming’s Candice Martello on additional vocals, finds comfort in hard times. Listen below.
