It’s been a heavy year for everyone, including Philly-based singer, songwriter and producer Jules Franklin. He recorded his new EP, When You Find This I Hope You Like It, this summer while processing both the joy of his daughter’s birth and the hardship of the pandemic and social unrest.

Franklin hopes the EP’s six songs will connect with listeners who’ve also struggled through 2020, and also serve sonic time capsule to help document this complicated year. “The EP is meant to be an audio snapshot of the last several months and a future gift to my daughter, hence the title When You Find This I Hope You Like It,” he says. Franklin writes to baby Maxine, who’s proudly featured in the cover artwork, “Who would have thought this is how the world would be when you came into it? I felt inspired to write these songs to help you, me and anyone else try and make some sense of it all.”

Franklin also wants the EP to do some good for those who need it the most, so he’s donating all proceeds from the EP to Germantown nonprofit Face to Face, which provides food, health and legal services, and more resources to local populations that have been hard-hit by COVID.
