Ani DiFranco announces new album, Revolutionary Love, shares a hopeful message on its title track

Ani DiFranco will release her 22nd album, Revolutionary Love, on January 29, 2021 via her own label, Righteous Babe Records. Partially inspired by the book See No Stranger by Valarie Kaur, as well as the current state of the world, DiFranco says the album is “about carrying the energy of love and compassion into the center of our social movements and making it the driving force. It’s about finding it within ourselves to stay curious about our opponents instead of shutting down.”

When the pandemic hit, DiFranco had already written many of the songs on the new album, but found that we needed their message more than ever. She quickly got to work recording, while also continuing her lifelong activism ahead of election season. “I felt very strongly that I needed a horse to ride to try to help get out the vote—to get people inspired and get them believing in democracy, believing in each other and in themselves,” DiFranco says.
