Rubber experiments with a fresh new sound on latest single “Cloudy”
Philly Pop-soul duo Rubber is “switching their perspective” on their latest single “Cloudy.”
The latest track draws on their smooth R&B, funk and jazz influences, but is a distinctly different style with a thick, poppy bass line throughout accompanying the rich vocals that occasionally break off into a fresh rap.
Rubber spoke about the track via Instagram:
“It started off as a joke song that we made just to clear our systems and remind us to have fun during the writing process. We laughed at some of the lyrics and the sample that we knew we would never clear, stuck it in a google drive folder and left it alone for a couple weeks. During a writing weekend in Rock Hall, Maryland this past August, we reworked the lyrics and created a completely new instrumental around concept and suddenly ‘Cloudy’ was born.”
“Cloudy” shows Rubber leaning towards a new sonic direction while maintaining the groove and R&B roots of their typical sound. Listen to “Cloudy” below.
