Tyler Bussey is known by his friends as TyTy, and now the Philly musician is reintroducing himself to the music world as a play on his nickname with his solo project Thank You Thank You.

Thank You Thank You is the first project under Bussey’s name apart from his guitar role in local indie-rock outfit Strange Ranger. Ahead of the forthcoming debut EP NEXT TO NOTHING, Bussey recently kick-started Thank You Thank You with the release off “K P,” the project’s first single.

“K P” pulls from influences like Yo La Tengo, with a dreamy guitar setting the mood of the track’s melodic pop form. Bussey’s vocals are simple and delicate, forming a peaceful soundscape amongst the airy instrumental arrangement, yet still maintains a catchy drive from fast-paced drums and moving synths.

NEXT TO NOTHING is set to release on January 8, with contributions from over a dozen musicians including members of Spirit of the Beehive, Another Michael, Slow Mass, Rozwell Kid, Sam Amidon and more. The EP is yet another piece of music completed during isolation, as Bussey tells The Key it was recorded mostly last year in Philadelphia and finished remotely during quarantine, becoming a project within times of both the formerly bustling normal life and the slow lethargy of what we know now.

This mix of qualities from external life feels present in the balance of peaceful leisure and lively pace that previews the EP on “K P.” NEXT TO NOTHING is out January 8 via Oof Records and ten percent of cassette sales will go towards Amistad Law and are available to pre-order here.
