Alex G to score Sundance Film Festival Feature We’re All Going to the World’s Fair
Alex G has composed the score for We’re All Going to the World’s Fair, a new film set to premiere at the Sundance Film Festival on January 31st, 2021. The Philly guitarist announced the news in an Instagram post earlier this week.
We’re All Going to the World’s Fair is directed by Jane Schoenburn, and will be their debut feature film. In a Tweet, Schoenburn said they “[listened] to Alex’s music constantly while writing my movie. When I found out he was down to write a score + original music for the film, I basically had an out-of-body experience. His music is SO BEAUTIFUL and I can’t wait for y’all to hear it!!”
The film centers on the experiences of a teenager who plays an “online role-playing horror game,” eventually losing herself between “dreams and reality.” Sundance describes the film as exploring “themes of identity and isolation, while skillfully building in online wormholes and creepypasta.”
Alex G’s most recent solo release was 2019’s House of Sugar, though he also appeared on “April Ha Ha” from Nothing’s latest LP, The Great Dismal. Check out more info on We’re All Going to the World’s Fair here.
