As the year winds down, we’re continuing our look back at the music of these past twelve months with an ongoing series of XPN Best of 2020 deep dives. Today, Sleepy Hollow’s Keith Kelleher shares his essential quiet sounds of the past year.

Songs

“How Lucky” by Kurt Vile & John Prine – 2020 has been such a year of turmoil that i can’t think of a song that is better in it’s respite from the worries of this most horrendous year.  Kurt Vile takes on a gem of Prine’s back catalog and captures all the folksy charm and simplicity with abundance…and having John Prine duet on this cut just puts a tear in my eye every time he joins in with the chorus.  Thank the Heavens for the Power of Music!!!

“I’ve Made Up My Mind to Give Myself to You” by Bob Dylan – A tender and somber moment in Dylan’s storied career.  A look back at the winter of his life, the laid back arrangement keeping in tone with the sentiment of the moment. Love the background chorus adding poignancy to the story of the object of his affections.

“I Remember Everything” by John Prine – Another gem in a storied career.  So happy to have this in the music carousel for 2020.
