Liz Phair’s “Hey Lou” pays tribute to Lou Reed and Laurie Anderson
Liz Phair is back with “Hey Lou,” her first new song in two years and a track from her forthcoming album, Soberish. The song pays tribute to Lou Reed and Laurie Anderson, imagining what the musician couple’s famous relationship looked like behind the scenes.
“Have you ever wondered what love looks like for your favorite celebrity couple behind closed doors?” Phair says. “‘Hey Lou’ imagines a day in the life of two music legends, whose union was an inspiration for rock bands and a source of curiosity for die hard romantics.”
“Hey Lou” was produced by Phair’s Exile in Guyville collaborator and friend Brad Wood, and it’s accompanied by a music video directed by Toben Seymour that features Lou and Laurie in puppet form.
