Anna Fox Rochinski settles into the contemplative quiet of “No Better”
Anna Fox Rochinski has just released the second single from her upcoming solo debut album, Cherry.
Her first solo single, “Cherry“, already showed that her solo work would be very different than her work with Quilt. While “No Better” reinforces this expansive sound, it also demonstrates the diverse possibilities of Rochinski’s new work. Her performance in “No Better” settles into a sort of quiet, resigned sorrow. A pulsing synth follows her as she strides across the space created from an exiting piano.
According to a press release, “No Better” was initially conceived as a garage rock song. This final form sits worlds away from that concept. And yet, despite the somber nature of the lyrics, this piano ballad remains infectious and dynamic matching the standard set by “Cherry” and making us eager to hear Rochinski’s full album.
You can listen to “No Better” below. Be sure to follow Rochinski on social media and pre-order Cherry now before its March 26 release on Don Giovanni Records.
