Like many other artists, Jersey-rooted local band Jackson Pines used 2020 as an opportunity to buckle down, refocus, and work on some new music. Their newest single, “Anna Lee,” is the first song released from their upcoming album.

It’s a love song, plain and simple – or maybe not so plain or, simple. “Anna Lee” makes grand claims about the woman it is named for: “If I could be a planet in your galaxy / A star so bright that I can’t see / Hold me in your loving arms.” It’s lofty in scope, but like the rest of Jackson Pines’ work, it leans into the sort of pure, honest country blues that you can’t find too often. No matter how straightforward a subject, there’s a depth to their music, and this song is no exception.

No name or exact date for the upcoming album has been announced, but it will be dropping some time next month. Be sure to follow the Jackson Pines Facebook page or Instagram to make sure you don’t miss any news about it.
