It’s a smattering of old friends and new favorites on this week’s PRESS PLAY, with sketchy, the newest album by celebrated duo tune-yards, at the top of the heap. An icon of the Hammond B-3, Dr. Lonnie Smith is joined by an unlikely collaborator, Iggy Pop, on Breathe. First Aid Kit and friends pay a wide-ranging tribute to Leonard Cohen on Who By Fire, recorded over two nights in Stockholm in 2017. Josiah Wise aka serpentwithfeet offers a stirring new collection, DEACON, featuring contributions from Sampha and NAO. A new EP from Real Estate finds the long-running New Jersey band expanding on the psychedelic textures of their last album. Anna Fox Rochinski, longtime vocalist/guitarist of Quilt, steps out with her glittering solo debut, Cherry. Philly favorites Great Time round out the pack with their new EP, Sounds Like __ [Vol. 1], which recently debuted on our local show. PRESS PLAY on this week’s new releases below…
