Local songwriters Emily Drinker, Jeanette Lynne, and Brittany Ann Tranbaugh cover boygenius

Singer-songwriters Emily Drinker, Jeanette Lynne (of the band Best Bear), and Brittany Ann Tranbaugh teamed up to cover boygenius‘ “Ketchum ID.” The three local musicians met at songwriting competitions nearly a decade ago and kept in touch through social media. After realizing they listened to a lot of the same indie music, they decided to collaborate on a cover.

They settled on the boygenius song because, according to Lynne, the trio of Julien Baker, Phoebe Bridgers and Lucy Dacus are “amazing on their own, and also amazing together.” Drinker, Lynne, and Tranbaugh each filmed their part of the song separately before editing it all together.

“I also feel that sometimes the music scene can become competitive or too independent minded, which can get  lonely and frustrating at times,” Lynne adds. “Philly has so many talented musicians and songwriters, I would love to see more people getting out of their comfort zone and collaborating like this!”
