Fried Monk and Beautiful-Fortune shoot for the sun on “Planet B”

Electronic musician Fried Monk (Lucas Kozinski) collaborated with indie rock artist Beautiful-Fortune (Jameel Farruk) on a new EP, Here As One, that comes out next month. The duo dove into their collection of unfinished home recordings to find inspiration for the otherworldly single “Planet B,” which is out now.

The track yearns for escapism while embracing the two artists’ eclectic sound. Wanting to sound like “an astronaut communicating via radio,” they used a harmonica microphone to create natural sound effects while recording the verses. “It was our way of making it sound as if we were somewhere other than this world,” says Farruk.

“I’m overly curious about the sun,” Farruk shares. “I’m borderline obsessed with it. As a solo artist, I can’t help myself from having referred to the sun over and over throughout my catalog of songs… I think this song is just me continuing to explore my relationship with the sun.”
