PRESS PLAY: 8 New Albums Out April 16th
I wouldn’t usually pick an anniversary reissue to top the list of PRESS PLAY, but epic Ten isn’t your usual anniversary reissue. To commemorate 10 years of her second album, Sharon Van Etten offers a remaster of the original recordings alongside new covers of the entire album performed by Fiona Apple, Courtney Barnett, Shamir, Lucinda Williams, and more. Best known for his experimental psychedelic output as the leader of Wand, Cory Hanson makes a surprising solo excursion into the realm of cosmic country on Pale Horse Rider. Ethereal pop trio London Grammar return with Californian Soil, a record bursting with atmosphere and energy. This week The Polyphonic Spree announced two new releases for 2021; Afflatus, a collection of covers, is out now with a new original set arriving in the fall. With recordings spanning 2017-2019, ‘Til We Meet Again is, surprisingly, Norah Jones‘s first-ever live album. Genre-bending musician Nick Hakim teams up with poet Roy Nathanson for Small Things, showcasing new poetry born out of an impromptu studio visit. Paul McCartney invites Beck, St. Vincent, Khruangbin, and more to rework tracks off his most recent album for McCartney III: Imagined. Adventurous trio Son Lux complete their ambitious project Tomorrows with the multi-part album’s third installment. PRESS PLAY on these new albums and more…
