PRESS PLAY: 9 New Albums out April 23rd!
Familiar faces and newcomers alike deliver on this week’s batch of new albums. For their fifth album since reuniting in 2005, Dinosaur Jr team up with Kurt Vile on the inviting Sweep it Into Space. Though it’s hardly lacking in heavy riffs, the album is a warm and welcoming return from the legendary trio. Speaking of collaborations, genre-hopping Irish singer Imelda May‘s 11 Past the Hour features guest spots from Noel Gallagher and Ronnie Wood. You’ve been hearing the enigmatic Canadian performer Art d’Ecco on the air for a bit, and this week he releases In Standard Definition. New Orleans icon Ivan Neville’s latest with Dumpstaphunk, Where Do We Go From Here, is a politically-minded set with appearances by Marcus King and Trombone Shorty. Few artists can boast careers as long and as varied as Tom Jones, whose Surrounded by Time finds the 80-year old singer tackling Bob Dylan, Terry Callier, and more. Recently heard on World Cafe, Jupiter & Okwess enlist guests from around the world on Na Kazonga. Longtime XPN favorite Citizen Cope returns to his solo acoustic roots with The Pull of Niagara Falls. Brothers Peter and David Brewis turn in another energetic Field Music record, Flat White Moon. Finally, Satomimagae layers ethereal folk with electronic textures on the enchanting Hanazono.
