Kississippi reflects on youth and growth on new single “Big Dipper”; new album Mood Ring due out in August
Kississippi will return with a new album this summer. Zoe Reynolds will release Mood Ring on August 6 via Triple Crown Records. The first single “Around Your Room” came out last fall, and a new one, “Big Dipper,” is out now.
“I wanted to reflect on my youth while also growing,” Reynolds says of the album. “The album is nostalgic, bringing you back to having a childhood crush and sharing those feelings with your friends.” While Mood Ring leans in a pop direction, “I feel the emo and punk presence everywhere on this record,” Reynolds says.
Reynolds brought that vision of friendship and togetherness to life by collaborating with several indie scene peers on the record. Al Menne of Great Grandpa contributed guest vocals to “Big Dipper,” which is accompanied by a video directed by Foxing bassist Josh Coll. Other collaborators include Bartees Strange, Marshall Vore, Illuminati Hotties’ Sarah Tudzin, and Lisa Prank’s Robin Edwards.
