Norweigan bedroom-pop-star Girl in Red (the moniker of Marie Ulven) will be returning to the U.S. to play the Firefly Festival in September. This will be their first show in the States since the release of their debut album if i could make it go quiet earlier this year.

The announcement was accompanied by a string of U.S. tour dates for 2020 which will kick off in Nashville on March 9. Girl in Red will take the stage at Union Transfer on March 16.

An underground icon since the release of her lovesick singles in 2018, if i could make it go quiet possesses the same confessional quality. From battling intrusive thoughts on “Serotonin” to total betrayal on “Did You Come?” nothing seems too intimate for her to tell the whole world about.

The 11 track album was written and demoed at her home in Oslo, but was recorded in Bergen. Borrowing her dad’s car to make the 8-hour drive out to the Norweigan wilderness, Ulven would talk to herself about the complicated feelings that come with love, lust, and growing up. This outpouring of emotion and deep introspection is evident in the earnest honesty of her lyrics.

Tickets for the Make It Go Quiet Tour go on sale this Friday, May 21st, at 10 a.m. and can be purchased at the Union Transfer website. Announcements for concerts at this point are subject to change due to the uncertainty of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Union Transfer does not have a COVID-related health and safety section of their website. However, promoter Sean Agnew told us in our recent story about the return of concerts that “We will almost certainly enforce masks for the foreseeable future. Lots of states are talking about showing proof of a vaccine OR taking a same day COVID test to attend a concert. We aren’t quite sure yet what to expect, but whatever the state and city decides — we’ll be sure to follow along and welcome everyone back in a SAFE manner.”
