The Groove Merchants share “You Are My Religion” video ahead of Sellersville show
Philly roots rockers The Groove Merchants retreated to a barn in Quakertown during the pandemic to record a live EP, and the third video from the Live at Morgan Creek session, “You Are My Religion,” is out now. The inspiration for the song came from songwriter Tye Vallone’s disillusion in his Catholic upbringing and how he started to view real-life relationships on a spiritual level.
“It’s a song about the idea that, given we don’t truly know what happens after we die –regardless of what we believe — a person that we love and care about can be like our religion and what we put our faith in as well,” Vallone shared via email. The song was originally released on the band’s latest LP, The Throne.
The Groove Merchants will play their first live show since the pandemic, and their first-ever show with a nine-piece band, at the Sellersville Theater on July 9. Limited seated tickets are on sale now, and as of 5/16/21 the venue’s safety guidelines include mask wearing and social distancing inside. A livestream option is also available. Find tickets and updated COVID-19 protocols on the Sellersville Theater’s website.
