Tyler, The Creator’s 2022 tour brings him to Wells Fargo Center

2021 will go down as the year everyone had 1-855-444-888 on speed dial. Appearing on billboards and plastered all over Instagram, Tyler, The Creator used it to tease his latest album, Call Me If You Get Lost. In an equally eccentric gesture, he revealed his 2022 tour dates in the form of a “travel itinerary” posted on his social media accounts. He also announced that Kali Uchis, Vince Staples, and Tezzo Touchdown will be accompanying him on the road. The crew will make a stop in Philly on March 6 to play the Wells Fargo Center.

The 34-city run, all set in arenas, is a perfect compliment to the album which is all about jet-setting: his lyrics talk about stamps in his passport, limousines, and hopping on planes. While he makes the fast life seem fun as he’s constantly surrounded by models and stepping out of Rolls Royce’s, he has a level of self-awareness that’s stunning.

From the soft hook on “RISE!” that sees him begging, “please don’t go / please just say” and admitting to trying to “take somebody’s bitch because I’m a bad person,” he has no problem delving into the difficult stuff. Throwing in a few quirky quips about Justin Beiber and vanilla ice cream, he manages to lighten up an album that otherwise prompts deep contemplation through soft hooks, harsh bars, smooth beats, and dead-pan monologues.
