Hudson Valley, New York singer-songwriter favorite Dar Williams returns this year with I’ll Meet You Here, her tenth album and first for the Renew imprint of BMG Records.

A veteran of the New England folk community, Williams has been active as a performer since the late 80s; she’s probably best known for contemplative and remarkably catchy releases like 1996’s Mortal City and 2000’s The Green World, but her discography reaches wide in both directions along the timeline, and the new record seems to be about those moments where time catches up with you, and you decide to greet it by living in the now.

“At some point,” she says in a press release, “you have to meet life where it meets you … I think what the songs [on the new album] all have in common is the willingness to meet life as it arrives.”

The album comes with a teaser single called “Today And Every Day,” and a stop motion music video by visual artist and singer-songwriter Antje Duvekot; it makes allusions to climate change, digital disconnection, and finding a way to navigate life despite its challenges. Seems somber, but Williams as ever is adept at bringing an innate folk-pop catchiness to the proceedings.
