Washington, D.C. based indie artist Bartees Strange released a new single on September 23rd titled “Weights.” The track will be included in the deluxe edition of 2020 debut LP Live Forever out on October 1st.

“This is about the ones that got away,” Strange says in a press release. “Going back and forth in my head about relationships that could have happened, missing that it didn’t, and finally realizing I gotta let the weight of it all go.” “Weights” was recorded by GRAMMY nominated (and Philly local) producer Will Yip.

Since Strange released his debut LP last year, the songwriter’s career has been on a meteoric rise. He toured opening for Courtney Barnett, Lucy Dacus, and Phoebe Bridgers, and even recorded a cover of Bridger’s “Kyoto,’ then made his late-show debut on Late Night With Seth Meyers.

Tickets to see Bartees Strange with Lucy Dacus at Union Transfer on 10/21 have sold out, but stay tuned for more dates from the busy artist. And watch the lyric video, edited by Bob Sweeney, for “Weights” below.
