Watch Anika Pyle showcase ‘Wild River,’ cover Kasey Musgraves, and share new music on Left Of The Dial live
When singer-songwriter Anika Pyle played a sold-out run of shows with Laura Stevenson this fall, she brought a dream lineup of bandmates for the ride: Kiley Lotz of Petal on vocals and keys, Kayleigh Goldsworthy on violin and vocals, and Zack Robbins of Slaughter Beach, Dog on drums. Before they parted ways at the end of tour, the good folks at Left of the Dial captured this lineup in a live session that’s now available to watch on YouTube and purchase on Bandcamp.
The focus of the set is Pyle’s stirring 2021 release Wild River, a collection of songs and poetry written while she processed her father’s 2019 passing; you can read more about that in our February, 2019 interview with Pyle. The title track, “Prayer For Lonely People,” and “Windy City” are moving and spirit-lifting cuts from the set, and Pyle and the band used their LOTD Live performance to capture a few other selections for posterity: their cover of Kacey Musgraves’ “Space Cowboy,” and a previously unreleased song called “The Way You Looked at Me.”
