Philly icons The Dead Milkmen have a way of picking auspicious dates for their hometown-adjacent shows; usually they land around Halloween, but for one of their latest gigs, they’ll be playing Atlantic City’s Anchor Rock Club on Friday, May 13th.

Catching the band down the shore is a unique opportunity, considering their well-documented feelings about such (see “Beach Song” from Big Lizard In My Backyard), but the Milkmen have a way of transforming any setting they play into the site of a uniquely special event, from parks to cemeteries to the proper-est of stages.

As part of this mini-tour, the Milkmen will also play Jersey City’s White Eagle Hall on Saturday, May 14th and The Queen in Wilmington on Friday, April 22nd.

The Dead Milkmen’s most recent offering was a cover of Heaven 17’s “(We Don’t Need This) Fascist Groove Thing” from two years back; their Welcome To The End of the World EP from 2017 is also solid. Tickets for their Anchor Rock Club gig are on sale this Friday, January 14th (10 a.m. for the May shows, noon for the April show), more information can be found at the XPN Concert Calendar.
