New from singer-songwriter Nilüfer Yanya: the single “midnight sun” and a visualizer featuring the artist walking through a buzzing city and wearing pink angel’s wings. “midnight sun” is the second single released leading up to Yanya’s new album PAINLESS, due out March 4th via ATO Records. The announcement is coupled with the roll out of new tour dates, including two sets at Coachella in April and a Philadelphia show at Underground Arts on May 4th.

About “midnight sun,” Yanya says in a press release, “It’s a song about recognizing what it feels like to be pushed down but wanting to resist. I really like the imagery of ‘midnight sun’ as a lyric as it insinuates a light guiding you through darkness.” The video for the single appears to be shot on 8 mm film, and was directed by Yanya’s sister Molly Daniel. Her costume carries special meaning as well. “The wings carry their own symbolism – freedom, lightness, flight, fantasy. If I could pick what people saw & heard it would be seeing the beauty of confrontation and the necessity of rebellion.”
