Valerie June adds six acoustic songs and three covers (including Nick Drake) to deluxe edition of ‘The Moon and Stars: Prescriptions for Dreamers’
There’s more to Valerie June’s beloved 2021 LP The Moon and Stars: Prescriptions for Dreamers than we heard in 2021. Released today, the album’s new deluxe edition features six acoustic re-imaginations of original songs and three brand new covers from the GRAMMY-nominated artist, including John Lennon’s “Imagine” and Nick Drake’s “Pink Moon.”
“This Deluxe Edition reimagines a few of the album’s key tracks in a stripped-down acoustic setting that offer intimate takes of some of the album’s richest arrangements,” says June in a press release. “Listening to the original album versions alongside these acoustic arrangements shows the life of each song and how they can be appreciated both with luscious layers and in their simplest forms.” Indeed the best songs can be enjoyed without any fancy studio touches, and June proves that with new versions of her songs “Within You,” “Why The Bright Stars Glow,” “You and I,” “Smile,” “Stardust Scattering,” and “Stay.”
