Avataria takes it again from the top on “Crash”

Philly guitarist and singer-songwriter Avataria just released her first single of 2022 and, appropriately enough for a song landing near the top of the calendar year, it straddles the past and the future, gazing back with distress and ahead with uncertainty.

Atop crunching riffs and nervy production, Avataria sings in “Crash” of beginning anew while also having a keen sense that though we seem to be moving forward, we’re actually moving in circles: “Hey, they say it’s just not the same / But I don’t think anything ever really changed.”
