John Morrison and DJ DuiJi to spin soul classics at National Liberty Museum’s tribute to The Sound of Philadelphia
Next Thursday, the National Liberty Museum is hosting NLM at Night: The Sound of Philadelphia, a celebration of Black voices and music with DJs DuiJi 13 and XPN’s own John Morrison.
“When the National Liberty Museum reached out to me to help put this event together, I was overjoyed. Philly Soul is the music that I grew up with and was exposed to as a kid,” says Morrison. “These songs are so special and meaningful, and being able to play these records with my man DuiJi is just icing on the cake.”
Starting at 5:30, the event includes drinks and dancing, plus exclusive access to the Old City museum’s galleries. Local visual and performance artist Shanina Dionna will have art on display honoring the Sound of Philadelphia and it’s 50-year history. This timeless tribute is part of NLM’s Black History month programming, which features other thoughtful and memorable events.
