Grocer’s new album ‘Numbers Game’ is out this spring via GrindSelect; listen to “Pick A Way”
Philly indie rock four-piece Grocer will release their next album on May 6th via GrindSelect Records, the Philly label that’s put out music by Pine Barons, Moon Bounce, Son Step, Nina Keith and more.
Numbers Game was written by the band during a winter 2021 retreat to Georgia, recorded in the band’s South Philadelphia home studio, and is previewed today with the single “Pick a Way,” a mix of math-y complexity and radiant rock.
The band’s Cody Nelson has this to say about the track:
“‘Pick a Way’ is an attempt to try and understand the entitlement of men in general and specifically during the insurrection at the Capitol. It was born out of trying to wrap my brain around the increasingly detached lines of reason that go hand-in-hand with toxic masculinity.”
For a music video to go with the song, the band set “Pick A Way” to abstract images of them playing instruments in darkness with a moody spotlight washing over them. Watch below, and see the band this Thursday, February 17th for their 4333 Collective show at Original 13 Ciderworks; more information can be found at the XPN Concert Calendar.
