“Doylestown punk three-piece” is the route we typically go to describe Froggy, but they have a lot of range under that sonic umbrella — old-school skate thrashers to ripping riot grrl anthems. Their latest single, “Stupid Rich Boy,” dabbles in pensive post-punk riffs in the spirit of Television as singer-guitarist Morgan McClain laments seedier corners of the scene.

The song is a character study of a DIY hanger-on who purports to be an ally but continuously gives a pass to his problematic bros, prompting the question in the song’s chorus: “So what the hell are you doing here?” On Instagram, the band elaborated, saying “We are excited to share our new work & share a song that calls out specially sexist, racist, and transphobic cis white men 👺👺”

Froggy debuted “Stupid Rich Boy” and its Television-esque riffage back in the fall when they appeared on Left Of The Dial Live; listen to that session here, and check out the single version below. The new singles lands as Froggy has a lot going on — abortion rights activism, news from Kevin Smith that their hit “7-Eleven Nachos” will appear in Clerks 3, and high-profile gigs including the Preston & Steve sidestage at MMRBQ in Camden on May 21st and their very own Froggy Prom on May 28th at Doylestown’s James Lorah House.
