In a beautiful tribute to Lucinda Williams, and a nod to the veteran singer-songwriter’s influence on this year’s Big Time LP, Angel Olsen shared a cover of Williams’ song “Greenville” from her classic 1998 album Car Wheels On A Gravel Road. The cover is very true to the original with its country twang and two-part harmony featuring Meg Duffy from Hand Habits.

“There is no one like her out there,” said Olsen of William’s music. “It’s clear to me that her songs come from a very real place, and that’s the only kind of writing I like.” The cover was produced and recorded with Kyle “King Tuff” Thomas, a long-time friend but first-time collaborator.

If you are itching for more Angel Olsen, on July 19 she will be holding a livestream of a concert filmed at Topanga Canyon’s open-air Theatricum Botanicum; more information can be found here. Later in the summer, Olsen will be at The Skyline Stage at The Mann with Sharon Van Etten and Julien Baker for the Wild Hearts tour. But if Williams is more your style, she will be at the XPoNential Music Festival in September. Tickets and more information on all those shows can be found at our Concerts and Events page.
