It’s been five years since Alvvays leveled up with their sophomore album Antisocialites, and they’re poised to take another leap this fall with Blue Rev. The band’s third LP was recorded with with Shawn Everett, the Grammy-award winning engineer behind Alabama Shakes brilliant Sound and Color, as well as recordings by The Killers and Kacey Musgraves.
The lead single “Pharmacist” is out today, and it finds the band straddling heady prismatic shoegaze and infectious indiepop. Weird and whirring, the song is punctuated by tremolo bar dives, a poppy-yet-dissonant solo, and singer-guitarist Molly Rankin’s bright vocals.
Take a listen below, and find Alvvays’ fall tour dates, which begin in Chicago on October 14th and come through Philly on November 12th, where they’ll headline the Franklin Music Hall with Slow Pulp. Tickets and more information can be found at the WXPN Concerts and Events page.
