Harrowgrove is the project of New Jersey writer, producer, arranger and composer C.J. Davis, and over the past seven years, he’s balanced his love for the deep emotions of R&B and electronic rock in a robust collection of albums and songs that are equal parts tense and tender.
The next album from Harrowgrove, Deep Proximity, releases later this year; the latest teaser from it, “Full Disclosure,” is out this week, and it’s quite beautiful. Where Harrowgrove’s work often veers more haunting and emotionally strained, “Full Disclosure” finds Davis stepping into a place of serenity: it’s a sublime, soft and melodic story of personal honesty and self-reflection.
Harrowgrove’s next Philly gig is set for Friday August 19th, at the Pharmacy in South Philly, where he’ll share a bill with WRISTS, Lastima, Wormtooth, and Hallucinogenic Bulb. Davis also writes on his website “There are many plans in place for visual pieces to coincide with the releases of this album that are currently in develop as well.
