Emo pop rockers Best Bear will put out their debut LP When on August 26th, and the record’s first single “Gaslighter” is streaming now. The track is a straight-ahead rock ‘n roll tune about verbal abuse in a former relationship. Songwriter and vocalist Blue reclaims their dismissed feelings in the song’s powerful declarations like, “I guess it is just what it is / I fell in love with a narcissist.”
“Gaslighter” is the first preview from Best Bear’s debut album, which follows a couple singles throughout the years and a fun-loving EP of Avril Lavigne covers aptly titled It’s Complicated. Judging by their presence and fan base already established in the city, Best Bear’s upcoming release will cause a local stir. Fans of fellow scenesters Riverby and Puppy Angst as well as New Zealand indie rockers The Beths will want to give the new record a spin.
Best Bear also has a record release show planned for September 2nd at PhilaMOCA with Broke Body and Those Looks. Get your tickets at the WXPN Concerts and Events page.
