Philly’s standout funk-soul-hip-hop fusion band SNACKTIME, hot off their performances at Newport Folk Festival and Lollapalooza, released their newest single Wednesday.

The band—comprised of vocalist Nico Bryant, bassist Sam Gellerstein, drummer Austin Marlow, guitarist Larry Monroe Jr., trumpeter and guitarist Eric Sherman, trombonist and keyboardist Michael Spearman, and tenor saxophonist Ben Stocker—dropped “Can’t Imagine Why You’d Stay,” and you can listen to it on all major streaming platforms, or watch the video below.

“We have been pouring every ounce of our heart and soul into ‘Can’t Imagine Why You’d Stay,’” Gellerstein said of the song. “The band spent many days inside chipping away at the stone until it finally came into its realized form, and then polished it in sunny Los Angeles with the amazing Justin Lucas. We hope that you can see from this release a more open and honest SNACKTIME.”

They tapped some heavy hitters to work with them behind the scenes. The track was produced and mixed in Los Angeles and Philadelphia by Justin Lucas—who’s worked with Daniel Caesar and Khalid—and mastered by three-time Grammy Award winner Chris Gehringer—Dua Lipa, Rosalia, and Robyn among artists he’s collaborated with.

In addition to the new single, SNACKTIME announced their new partnership with music marketing, distribution, and management company Thirty Tigers.

“Their belief in us, and their vision in what we can do, has reinvigorated us and gotten us ready to bring this music to the world,” the band said of the company, whose roster includes Lucinda Williams, The Mountain Goats, S.G. Goodman, Jason Isbell and The 400 Unit, Eric Slick, and more.

SNACKTIME will be joining fellow Philly musician Devon Gilfillian on select dates of his upcoming tour, in addition to playing Sea.Hear.Now Festival in Asbury Park later this month.
