Ska is having a moment — not since the mid-90s, when bands like No Doubt and The Mighty Mighty Bosstones were mainstays of alternative radio. Like everything old being new again, it involves a younger fan base (in this case, Gen Z) discovering the danceable melodies and positive message of the music.
One of the bands leading the charge is Philadelphia’s Catbite, which balances a mix of different ska styles, from two tone to third wave, with shades of power pop, offering something for almost everyone. Formed in 2018, the band features Brit Luna, Tim Hildebrand, Chris Pires and Ben Parry, and their latest album is 2021’s Nice One. We’re thrilled to welcome them for a mini-concert today, recorded live at a WXPN Free At Noon concert in July.
