Early in the year I Tweeted that 2022 was going to be a good jawn for women in Philly music, and I must say that the scene sounds pretty nice out right now. 2022 has blessed us with new tunes from Dom B, Sinnia Brown, Sunnie, Just Frenchie, and a lot more. Yet while I’m happy for all of them contributing that Tweet becoming true, I’m extremely happy to see the run Jacqueline Constance has been on.
In February, Jacqueline dropped a new single “DFWM,” and since then has lent her talents to other artists featuring on tracks (“Because of You” by Wordsworth & Kelzwitdaheat and “Work” by her GentleJawns partner in crime Joie Kathos). A couple weeks ago she kept this momentum going by dropping a new record called “Anything,” a poppy tune that captures the youthful energy of a young dreamer aspiring to make a creative vision become reality by any means. As a Hov fan, I like how the chorus has similarities to the chorus and second verse of “Anything” by Jay – Z. For those who have been fans of the Mt. Airy artist since her debut project The Jacqueline Show, it has the same feeling of the song “Good Life,” but with different production and Jacqueline rapping herself instead of having a rapper as a feature.
According to IG, Jacqueline Constance recently quit her 9-5 job in order to put more focus into music — so hearing “Anything” and seeing the work she’s put in this year makes me excited to see what’s next.
