Singer-songwriter Rachel Andie has spent the summer of 2022 back home in Philly, after living abroad and building a new home base for herself in Wellington, New Zealand. In this guest DJ set on the WXPN Local Show, Rachel tells us what led her to the other side of the world and talks about the moves she’s made since settling there — from landing a job at the revered indie label Flying Nun Records, to joining no fewer than a half dozen regional bands like Specter Collective and Soaked Oats.

She also tells about her summer back in Philadelphia, reconnecting with her old friends and peers through creative collaborations (like Kyle Sparkman’s “Breakthrough” music video, where Rachel donned a shroud and mask on a 90-degree day to play a working class Grim Reaper) and concerts (her bon voyage show happens this Saturday, September 3rd at Johnny Brenda’s with Great Time and Sweet Pill).

Listen to her guest DJ set in full below, and check out Sparkman’s “Breakthrough” video as well. Tickets and more information on Rachel Andie’s Johnny Brenda’s show can be found at the WXPN Concerts and Events page.
