This weekend, Philly favorites The Menzingers took the stage for two nights at Union Transfer to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of their breakout album On The Impossible Past. The album, which was released on Epitaph in February of 2012, defined the band’s sound and set them on the path to punk stardom that they are at today.
After entering the stage to Mark Morrison’s hit “Return of the Mack,” The Menzingers went right into On The Impossible Past. They weren’t two notes into its opening song, “Good Things,” when fans started crowd surfing over the barricade. The mood was electric, at points it seemed like the people singing in the crowd was louder than the band onstage. After they finished playing the album in its entirety, they played some of their hits through out the years.
The Menzingers brought local favorites Screaming Females and post-hardcore heavyweights Touché Amore on tour with them. Both bands brought an incredible energy to the room and were a great way to start the show.
