Screaming Females is back in action this year. The DIY heroes announced a new album Desire Pathway to be released on February 17 via their long-time label Don Giovanni Records. It’s been almost five years since the band’s last record All At Once, and just one short year since Marissa Paternoster’s shining solo record Peace Meter. With the announcement of the new record comes single “Brass Bell,” a metal-twinged sinister haze of a guitar rock song.
“‘Brass Bell’ is a song about surrendering your autonomy to something so overwhelmingly powerful you willingly relinquish your ambitions and self-worth,” says singer/guitarist Marissa Paternoster in a press statement. “My intention was to draw an interesting dichotomy between the muscular nature of the song and the rather bleak, worried lyrics.”
Desire Pathway’s release date coincides with Screaming Females’ anticipated 2023 Garden Party Festival at White Eagle Hall on February 17 and 18. The two-day festival includes performances by Armand Hammer, Laura Stevenson, Catbite, Gel, Sug Daniels, and more. So far, this is the closest Philly date on their 2023 tour.
